Etchings
Note: Ingeborg's Etchings are done on either zinc, copper or brass plates. After the edges of the plate are filed and the plate is polished, it is covered with a mixture of beeswax and ashphaltum. The image is scratched into the coating with an etching needle in a reverse way, then immersed into an acid bath and each line is timed according to the depth (darkness in ink) you want to achcieve. Creating an Aquatint, the plate is covered with a resin powder which is baked onto the surface of the metal. Where the metal is left open, the acid penetrates the plate which eats the metal in those places where the ink will eventually be wiped into the plate. Dampened paper will cover the inked and wiped plate and
be run through an Etching Press by the Artist which usually is turned manually. This is a highly technical method and was used by the old masters like Goya and Rembrandt. All Images are framed with a wide margin of Paper showing on all sides.

Prices for etchings range from $180.00. Each etching plate has a numbered edition, usually not more than 20 of which 1/1 is the most valuable.
